So here's the problem.
Running an ol' mac G5 dual 2.3 with a couple of internal 2TB HD and truecrypt, 7.1.1. Haven't reinstalled in years and years and it just seemed to be time.
Disk A is partitioned into 2. A system partition 10.5.8 and a file partition.
Disk B is partitioned in two also. One is a bootable back up of Disk A System partition and the other a file partition. The file partition contains the Truecrypt file container.
Booting from either, and launching TC, allows me to access the TC file container on Disk B before the fresh install of 10.5.8 on Disk A System Partition.
After a fresh install of 10.5.8 with 7.1a (7.1.1) TC installed on Disk A System Partition, I am unable to access the TC partition on Disk B. Permissions denied". And the icon is a generic icon.
Booting back into the ol' system back up on Disk B system partition (several years old as fresh backup just in case) results in TC being able to access the TC container.
The fresh install? Cannot open the TC container on Disk B.
Using a bootable system copy, I copy the disk B system partition back to the disk A patron an-nn-nnn-d…
I am able to open the TC container on Disk File partition when I boot from Disk A System partition.
Any ideas? Have never seen this wonkiness before.
Big round of thanks to all those who respond.
My solution? Boot into Disk B system, open the TC file container, copy the files out to another disk, reformat, redo TC file container and copy everything back.
